I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to Congresswoman Elise Stefanik for her continued support of the North Country region—especially for helping to secure more than $11 million in grant funding for public water infrastructure projects in the Town of Schuyler Falls, including the Morrisonville and Sand Road Water Districts.

These essential projects represent major capital investments that would have been financially out of reach for these small and predominantly moderate- to low-income communities without federal assistance. The funding enabled us to move forward with providing clean, reliable, and sustainable drinking water to residents who could not afford such infrastructure on their own.

During my time as Town Supervisor, I remember a critical moment when residents of Sand Road came to a public meeting after discovering their wells were contaminated. One resident asked, “What are you going to do for those of us with contaminated wells?” That question became a call to action.

Thanks to the dedication and cooperation of many partners—including the Towns of Schuyler Falls and Plattsburgh, their respective Water Departments, the New York State Department of Health, the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), the Clinton County Health Department, Casella Waste Management, two engineering firms, and support from our local, state, and federal representatives—the Sand Road Water District is now fully funded and ready for construction, with no debt service for residents.

We also worked to defer and offset general operating costs for the initial years. With temporary filtration systems in place, the formation of this permanent water district marks a long-term investment in the health and well-being of our community.

I encourage residents of the proposed Sand Road Water District to review the plan, consider the benefits, and sign the petition to move the project forward.

As always, I welcome your questions and feedback.
